UD's net is in the 70's and they only have one Q1 win. Probably a long shot even though they seem like a fun team to watch.
I don't know why teams don't heat the Boilers up more full court, halfcourt and on the perimeter. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
What do you think? Will Detroit Mercy get an NIT bid so Davis can break Maravich's record? It would be a travesty . . . but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
I don't really think it matters. Even if Davis breaks the record, it's not like his legacy is going to surpass Pistol Pete's. I don't mean to make light of Mike Davis, but either way, Marovich will always be a legend and Davis will be a footnote comparatively speaking.
I think the one potential weakness is Purdue's perimeter defense which could have been a strength had Eric Hunter not transferred.
All true but that doesn’t mean the regency bias folks won’t talk it up like it’s actually meaningful.
It won’t be the NIT as they have several automatic bids to regular season conference champs that don’t win their conference tournaments. The at-large bids are awarded to teams based on NET & Kenpom rankings. Now, the CBI & CIT are certainly possible. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
It looks like the CIT has been renamed The Basketball Classic. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops

Especially when you consider Pete Maravich set the record over 81 games and NO 3 point line. Davis fell 3 points shy using 144 games and a 3 point line.
And he essentially got an extra year to do it. Wahhhhhh my life is so unfair wahhhhh Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
He had two more years than Maravich. Freshmen couldn't play varsity back then. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
Why should a 14-19 Horizon League team have the right to play in ANY postseason tournament? At least when we played in the CBI in 2012 we had a winning record and played in the national championship game the previous two years. And for Davis to say "I still feel like I'm the best scorer in my generation . . ." is just pure silliness when you're playing in such a low-tier conference. I don't mean to denigrate Davis' accomplishments, but in that article I do agree that he at least comes off as a whiny, entitled baby acting like he's been cheated out of an opportunity he didn't deserve.
Yeah, it's a really bad look. He got a full extra year than anyone else in the modern era (and 2 more than Pete) He played for his dad in an offense designed to get him shots and scoring opportunities He did it in the Horizon League (and a version of the Horizon League after both Butler and Valpo left) In his final game, he went 7 for 26 from the field and 4 for 16 from 3... But yes, he was cheated out of an opportunity because a third rate pay to play tournament didn't' take a team with a 14-19 record
I agree wholeheartedly with all your points, but will add that, although #2 is true, that one wasn't any different for Maravich
That is something that is always lost in this - Maravich (his father) left NC State for LSU because Pete Maravich couldn't get into NC State. The offense was 100% based on Pete and was designed at the cost of winning.
Maravich: Davis: Let's remember that while yes, Davis had about 200 less total FGA than Maravich, over 50% of his total attempts were from 3, which Maravich never had. Davis's FG% was .408, while Maravich's was .438.
