I think Archie Miller is now 0 for 6 against Purdue. I bet the fans love that. If IU manages to miss the tourney this year, is Archie going to be on the hot seat?
Pretty sure the fanbase already wants him on the hot seat or even fired already. Man, did I misjudge him with my Dayton Flyers red/blue-colored glasses.
Not sure I understand the sentiment of Providence over Creighton? Next to X and not far behind in my Big East hierarchy of teams I don't like lies Providence. From the Donut Hole Hockey Rink Arena to their Ref Baiting Coach to their style of play, to banked in 3's, to Butler single handedly making Ben Bentyl an NBA player (cup of coffee actually) and they have beaten us up too many times to count. I think they are 13 and 5 vs Butler including kicking our ass at MSG at least 3 times. Anyhow, I like Creighton. Dislike Providence. Am I missing something?
The Friars and BU have similar basketball budgets. Similarities exist with player development. An argument can be made that Cooley is a good coach, but he has colorful style and it's evident his teams value toughness. Creighton, on the other hand, has been connected to some degree of shadiness within their program. Likewise, there is a perception of softness.
I'm not a fan of Creighton. Primarily because of how they spank Butler every time the game is in Omaha. But also their coach is a cheat. I actually think Cooley does a good job. Sure he gets on refs, but who doesn't? I officiate HS ball and coaches are working refs from the pregame talk on. I hate losing to Providence. I hate losing to anyone. But seeing Providence beat Creighton in Omaha is a double smile for me.
The US Dept. of Education reports "Equity in Athletics" which crunches the number for athletic budgets and breaks down individual sports . It usually is a year behind.
