First D-1 win of the year for Eastern Illinois. IUPUI still doesn’t have any. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops

Just looking at Providence in Kenpom - they are slotted at #46 -- behind Seton, Marquette, X, UCONN, and Villanova . They are 18 -2 overall and are in first place in the BE with an 8-1 record and have wins over all those guys. The stats show they have a huge "luck" coefficient, in fact its #1 in the 358 team universe. Seems very odd to me that they don't get much love in the stats.
Margin of wins & losses seems to play a huge factor in Kenpom. Like you mentioned Providence is 8-1 in the BE but 7 of their 8 wins have been by 10 points or less. Their one loss was a 32 point blowout at Marquette. The Friars other non-conference loss was at home to a meh Virginia team by 18. I think Butler’s Kenpom rating has been hurt by margin of wins/losses as well. Even though all 10 of their losses have been to good teams, 8 of the losses have been by 15 or more points. Also they only beat IUPUI by 9 & Eastern Illinois by 12-two of the worst teams in D1. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
But he is better than anyone who stayed at Butler from that class. Definitely BE talents but not Big 12 apparently.
So Creighton wins at UConn and at Marquette but loses at Butler by 17. Say what???? Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
I mean, those results might speak to actually having a competent coach on the sidelines. Remember McDermott was out with Covid against us. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
That’s bullshit. They were running all the same stuff. Just shows what a small margin of error there is. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
So you’re saying they would have lost by 17 with Coach McD? That he wouldn’t have done anything different? Agree to disagree I guess. I don’t have the time or desire to research it but I’m guessing teams on average perform below their average with a replacement coach. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops mobile app
And you’re saying they would have made up more than 17 points because he was coaching?? Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
My opinion is Creighton had a poor, poor night against us. They won the first game they played without McDermott on the sidelines. I doubt his absence had much to do with it. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
St John's at home on Saturday is a must win imo, as well. It will be their 4th game in 8 days and Georgetown on Thursday is on the road before traveling to play us. Sent from my SM-G977U using Butler Hoops mobile app
