Anybody take the under on Purdue/Tenn Music City Bowl? Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
Never take the under in a bowl game that isn’t the semi-finals Sent from my iPad using Butler Hoops mobile app
Bowl games are a tough go. Opt outs, motivation locations...they are one thing I don't go all in on. I did play 3 games yesterday and went 2-1 (ND was my loss) and played the semifinal games with the obvious SEC plays and killed both. But before that I didn't do a whole hell of a lot on the bowls. I'll tell y'all what though...Bama being the underdog for the NC is kinda weirding me out. I have no idea why they are which makes me nervous.
Trivia time: with us playing no games making it boring af. Let's test our memory and wits. Put the following players in order from most to least career games played for Butler A. Bo Hodges B. Markeese Hastings C. Elliot Kampen D. JaKobe Coles E. DJ Hughes F. Rene Castro Good luck. I'll release the answer before the next game, which is supposedly Tuesday
Well he is doing fairly well if you mean he lost his starting spot (he may’ve regained it) for a team that is #335 out of all Division 1 teams. I do see Norman is doing well for them and am glad to see that. How Markeese left didn’t sit well with me so one of the few that have left that I don’t care if he succeeds. Most guys I hope succeed at their next stop. If he had stuck it out until end of year I’d be in his camp but he pretty much quit mid-year!!!
Random stat for him.... he's 1-24 career on 3 pt fg, or 4.2%. His only make was 3/4/20. He was 0-9 last year and 0-10 this year. It's hard to miss that many in a row.
From December 12 to December 31 his senior year, Dunham went 2-32 from 3. He then shot 53% over the next two and a half months, totaling 43% for the year.
Dunham use to frustrate the heck out of me. I didn’t dislike him, he obviously was a talented shooter, but he never quite became a consistent scorer when shots weren’t falling. He did manage to make himself valuable in other ways, he was a willing rebounder and eventually became serviceable on defense, but that didn’t make things feel better when he went through his slumps. For me, he’s the best example of why you have to be willing to let shooters shoot their way out of slumps sometimes - No matter how painful it is to watch.
I’m glad Butler isn’t playing Western Michigan this season as Hastings would likely go 6-7 from three. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
I have to push back on this because of how infrequent it was that the shots were not falling. After his freshman year, Outside of that 5 game stretch, he played 92 games. He hit multiple threes in 75 of them. Yes, sometimes it took him a lot of shots to get there, but they still went down. In fact, outside of that four game stretch there were only four games in which he didn’t make a three by my count. In fact, outside of that 5 game stretch, he only shot under 25% 18 times in 92 games. A guy who is going to give you at least 25% from three 4 out of 5 games is incredibly consistent in my opinion. Fair enough, those are valid points and I would say that you know your stats better than I do. However, I’d be interested to hear if anyone else on this board would say that shooting 25% from three justifies being labeled a consistent 3-point shooter. I can live with Nze and Golden shooting that kind of percentage from three, assuming they were shooting them in the flow of a possession (in transition, catch and shoot,) but if you double up those attempts and shoot the same percentage, some would suggest that you should lay off shooting the three. The law of averages do level out, Dunham was a good shooter and had some impressive nights from three especially in his senior year, but Dunham didn’t always instill confidence in me personally like what Mack and Clarke did.
I wouldn’t say that 25% is a consistent three point shooter, I’m certainly not trying to claim that. My point though is that it was really, really really rare for him to take a lot and miss an overwhelming majority of them. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
This is pretty damn awesome. Two teams facing scheduling challenges decided to say "what the hell" and schedule a Thursday afternoon game. Someone, anyone nationally pick this up for TV. Should be a fun matchup.
