I take my allegiance to Butler University and Butler basketball pretty seriously--maybe too much so. For me, The Butler Way, is not a cheap tag line--I believe wholeheartedly in it, and I believe those who lead BU and its athletic teams are fully invested as well. This forum provides a great outlet to discuss this program and I am thankful for the insight and information that is shared here. I am also becoming more and more disturbed by the overt attempts to undermine the public perception of this staff and certain players. Many, if not most, of those attempts are based on conjecture and circumstances that cannot support the claim. If there is unraveling of the success of this program, it will become self evident and the consequences will reveal themselves. Is it necessary to "predict" those failures based on scant knowledge? And to what end--as a grandiose "gotcha" or "I told you so"? Social media does have influence. I have read needlessly offensive comments by Butler fans on other A10 message boards, unduly negative commentary on current BU players/staff on twitter and some unnecessary comments on this board, some aimed at current recruiting targets. Opinions well stated and supported are one thing--even if critical of the program--no harm there. Unnecessarily derisive postings (especially through twitter, other boards,) that cultivate a negative perception--what is the point? As for me, I'm gonna go watch my team play at the finest venue in America, yell like hell, and enjoy the experience (more so with a win) and be a proud Bulldog fan.
