I haven’t seen the new one but I think the original Mulan is the maybe the best like “classic Disney.” (Even though it’s only like 25 years old)

Imagine actually thinking Mulan is the best "classic Disney" movie. You are wrong about almost everything. Tell us more about how Nate Fowler is better than Nikola Jokic!

First-thank you for finally following the rules and talking about Mulan on the Mulan thread.

Let’s make a bet, if you can prove that I am wrong that “I think mulan might be the best Classic Disney movie” or that I said literally anywhere that Nate Fowler is better or even comparable to Nikola Jokich, I’ll stop posting. If you can’t, you stop posting!

Mulan better than Beauty and the Beast? Better than Aladdin? Better than THE LION KING?! Somewhere out there, there's a tree whose single purpose on earth is to replace the oxygen you waste. Go find it and apologize. ;)

I’m just glad that my movie preferences are objectively wrong. I think that’s a wonderful take by him, and actually quite telling about why he is how he is.

I rewatched Aladdin recently and Robin Williams carries that movie with just pure charisma, but I don't know if it's a favorite for me. Lion King absolutely rules. Also, the Great Mouse Detective is getting slept on.

I LOVED that movie when I was really little.

I think I like lion king more as an adult than I did as a kid. I believe the plot is based on Othello, but I noticed it also has loosely the same plot as Gladiator. (Forgive me for mentioning a non Disney movie-I don’t want to derail this convo bc we’re doing literally the best job staying on topic I’ve ever seen on this board.)

Ah I knew it was one of the Shakespeares and one I hadn’t read. Same deal though, loosely same plot as gladiator.

For Disney Classics, I'd have to order my top 5 as

    1. Lion King
    2. Aladdin
    3. Jungle Book
    4. Beauty and the Beast
    5. Robinhood

I did not like beauty and the beast AT ALL. Or Fantasia.

How do we define Disney classics? And are Pixar movies considered Disney movies?

Jungle Book is my favorite of the pre-90s Disney Renaissance movies. With two little ones in the house I've been catching up on some of the more recent ones and Moana is a favorite.

If we're including the Pixar movies then Up is the greatest Disney movie of all time in my book.

My oldest son loves Cars and Cars 3.

Yeah I was wondering how loose our definition gets, myself. There are so many great Pixar movies. Olaf from frozen is one of my all time favorite characters in any movie.

Disney Classic for me is a non-Pixar, musical style animated movie pre-2000. I put Pixar in it's own category, and the new age Disney stuff like Rapunzel, Moana, Frozen, etc that are the musical style but are from a different era get grouped together.

Are you referring to the Disney Movie, or the entertainer at the Gentleman's Club?
