Simonas Lukosius - 2021 Guard (Cincinnati)

Say hello to the newest member of the Butler Bulldogs! The program has officially announced the addition of German/Lithuanian guard Simas Lukosius. He recently played in the same league in Germany (Division 1) that Kelan Martin played in right out of college. He stands at 6-foot-6 and is a patient, well-rounded player. This addition has been in the works for some time (dating back to the beginning of the summer), and he already started class remotely at the beginning of the semester.

Sounds to me from what I have read he is on campus now but I could of misunderstood

Either way seems like a good fit and he could be a big time knockdown shooter

Omg. I'm sold already. He averaged 14 a game shooting 38% from 3 and 91%(!!!!!!!!!) from the FT last year.

 

He already started virtual classes, and should be coming over soon. He is not on campus yet, but I am under the impression that it will be this week unless travel changes.

I've spent hours pouring over statistics and trying to find as much film as I could. Most announcers have said "Loo-ko-see-us" and pretty quickly haha. It's a fun name, not going to lie (and not just because it's close to Lukas)

I also plugged a bunch of clips into my article. If they do not show up/play well on mobile, they should on desktop .

Well, someone mentioned Lithuania in another thread a few weeks back about recruiting. I didn't expect someone with eligibility this year, so nice bonus. Give us some flexibility moving forward and maybe it opens up the potential for more Euro traction in recruiting. I'd be all for it.

Lukas, do you know more about how this came to fruition?

 

This is a huge win and get. He looks ready to contribute right away and, as others have stated, this could open up a strong pipeline of recruiting across Europe. Nice work LJ and company!

 

Definitely can see a little Luka Doncic in his game, if he develops that pump fake he's going to be really hard to guard

 

Wonder if this effects the offer out to 2022 Connor Essegian? Hope not. Similar players, but I think I might like Essegian more.

 

Any other colleges recruit him?

 

Gonna try to keep my expectations relatively low, especially in his first year in America. Would love to know what, if any, other colleges he was considering?

 

I haven’t read Lukas’ Patreon article yet (at work), but does it say who the primary recruiter was? I think it’s great we are looking overseas, and wondered if it was an existing coach or did Ragland bring this in when he joined?

Im sure our head coach has some contacts over there. Wasn’t he around Michigan when they brought in Mo Wagner or at least close to that time as he is staring year 6 away from Michigan. 5th year at BU and one at Wisc-Milwaukee

 

I kinda assumed that it was an existing coach as well, since we were involved with Franz Wagner before he chose Michigan and Val was involved with Mo while at Michigan…
