Reminder that On3’s NIL calculator is apparently attempting to show rational marketing value, and not what players are actually getting. Simas got 40x what they’re claiming his NIL value to be.

I’ll say it again…Forty. Times.

 

On3's calculator is way off. 5.5k is a bogus number. Wilmoth is at 9.1k, Pierce Thomas at 10k. Tate at 16.6k.

If that’s truly what he got, there’s not a chance we would get him anywhere NEAR that kind of money. My assumption was that he is likely good for like 50k max but I have VERY little insight in how much kids get. If the board knew he even wanted 100k I think many of us would laugh in his face. I think he can and will be great. Especially as a spot of shooter around more competent teammates but it don’t think his stats will max out more than 12ppg… just more efficient

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of players are making that kinda money. Since college players are now professional athletes, are there any professional sports teams where the coaches make more than the entire roster? I keep wondering if coaches salaries will plateau until players salaries catch up.

 

You know what's funny-after his make out session with IU last year it seems they barely sniffed him this go around. They probably realized last season it's not worth it with him.

Another one of the main things that infuriates me with NIL. Why is it such a secret what everyone is making?!?!
Contracts in professional sports are publicized. You find out what jobs pay on 10+ different websites, yet all these Collectives treat their payouts like nuclear codes.
Pretty hard to establish an overall market when no one knows what is the market outside of 5ish teams for each individual player.
