New book coming out written by a Louisville madam and a former Indianapolis Star reporter claims that one of the assistant coaches for years paid to have escorts sleep with recruits. http://www.courier-journal.com/stor...t-u-l-looking-into-book-allegations/73228518/
Obviously attention from pretty girls has been part of the recruiting game for a long time. But what Jalen's describing and what Louisville has been accused of aren't quite the same thing. If a coach was paying for escorts for recruits, that's clearly a step too far.
Unbelievable accusations with this one. This story is incredible. I think we all suspected Louisville's program was a little shady, but I never imagined something like this. It certainly explains why Louisville ends up with so many thugs. Free hookers. Also, gonna leave this here...
Oh, I wasn't necessarily trying to say it's the same thing. But it's kind of the next step. It's not shocking to me at all that some school took the next step. I would be surprised if they are the only school. Nothing really surprises me in recruiting anymore. College recruiting is as shady as politics. Sure, there are plenty of schools that do it (mostly) right, but by in large you can pretty much assume everyone is guilty of something unless you have reason to believe otherwise.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...ick-pitino-didnt-say-about-escorts-said-a-lot Bill Simmons @BillSimmons 4h4 hours ago I will never forgive Rick Pitino for trading an unprotected lottery pick for Vitaly Potapenko so kudos to the Louisville hooker scandal. ----- lol... Nice internal control of the program by Little Ricky, if the allegations are indeed true.
It doesn't surprise me. It's been going on at various schools for decades. Michigan State used to have Duffy Dolls who were paid to " take care " of recruits. Money, cars, " entertainment" , gifts, meals have surely been used by UCLA, UNLV, Alabama, Miami, UConn, North Carolina, Syracuse, Kansas SMU, Kentucky. Why would Louisville be any different?
Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein 20h20 hours ago Six weeks from tonight we will have actual games to discuss. That is the shining light in what has been a dark week for college hoops. Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein 21h21 hours ago Head coaches in college basketball better know EVERYTHING that's going on in their program. If they don't, the damage could be collateral.
Does Slick Rick ever disappoint? His team last year was so poor shooting (subtract Montrez Harrell's numbers since all he did was dunk, cause he couldn't do anything else), and Louisville shot around 39% FG. They were painful to watch if you like basketball. Shooting straight in the bedroom doesn't transfer to the court. Slick Rick should have known that since his Italian Restaurant parking lot escapades. No worries though. This, too, shall pass with no penalties or shame forthcoming. ESPN and CBS will still love 'ya. Stay classy Louisville.
Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN Oct 2 NCAA talked to LSU freshman and ex-Louisville commit Antonio Blakeney earlier this week about his experiences on visit, source told ESPN.

Which will be sometime around never. That's a kid who has been well coached by a PR manager. You don't want to say you won't talk about it because that looks like an admission, so just say you'll talk about it later and then never do.

http://collegebasketball.nbcsports....t - text-based,brand – collegebasketballtalk] -------- I highly doubt if Pitino knew what was going down either, if the allegations are indeed true. Here's the rub though. Should he have known? Should he have known he potentially had a renegade DOBO? And Dauster raises an interesting question. Where did the cash come from to pay the women? I can't imagine McGee had that kind of money. Booster? Or assistant coaches who make more coin? If it came from the assistants, then Louisville has serious, serious problems. An outside booster and Pitino looks somewhat better. I don't see how Pitino gets off free though. This just reeks of lack of internal control. He's ultimately responsible for McGee. If the NCAA finds McGee guilty, I think Pitino is going to get hammered.
I don't believe Pitino knew anything about this. Seems to me $10,000 over four years is not that much money and could have slid through the system or the DOBO could have pulled this out of his own pocket or an alum.
