From the tape (not a great way to evaluate) I think Hastings profiles as a wing defender who can guard 4’s at times later in his career. I think we overrate his athleticism; I think it’s fine but not great, but fine will play. His body is A+ for a wing. I think Jared’s comparison to HB is ok defensively, but I expect that he likely will take longer to find an offensive niche, though I do expect him to be better ball handler. HB also has great “feel.” We will be lucky if Hastings can replicate that. I think he’s somewhere in between his ranking and our expectations. I don’t think he’ll play much as a freshman almost regardless of how well he does because of how experienced we are there. He’s a guy who I think will be a rotation player for 2.5-3 years with a chance to be more if his offensive game comes around. Sent from my iPhone using Butler Hoops
