Listed as a 6'5 shooting guard?

Probably because of Edwards, Hunter, & Embery...

I'd bet money on Wertz ending up at NC State.

That's a hell of a list. And he's a sit out. I think it's pretty clear at this point 2020-2021 will be the college version of tanking for us. We'll groom the kids and let them take their licks, try and put something decent out there the following year.

There is still so much unknown:

    1. Plenty of transfers left or haven't even hit the market yet
    2. Will Tucker be back?
    3. Will the seniors be allowed to come back?
    4. Will the NCAA waive sit-out rules?
    5. How good will our freshmen really be?

A lot of these, with the exception of #1, are probably very unlikely. However; it will only take one or two of them to drastically change the outlook of next season.

No. 2 is a no. People need to put that to bed. No. 3 is most likely a no. I cannot see a whole season given back to seniors. It's not like the season was canceled half way through. But, the other 3 are what I'm laying any hope I have on.

If they waive sitting out, getting the Ball State kid and Wertz would have us looking bubbly, mid-pack of the BE.

I talked with Trey Wertz a bit over the weekend regarding his list cut and just posted an article on his transfer recruitment (see below). This is a national piece but I also specifically asked him about Butler - this quote will be added to the transfer tracker that I've posted in here as well - and here was his response: “I can just tell they [Butler] really want me and I’m a big priority for them. They just think I have the makings to be an All Big-East player and there’s a lot of opportunity on their team right now.”

Here's the overview national piece for those interested: https://bustingbrackets.com/2020/03...nsfer-guard-trey-wertz-cuts-11-talks-process/

His stats were good in a league that doesn’t play D. Didn’t do a ton against the Zags, however.

He’s got great college guard size and was nearly at 50-40-80 shooting percentages for the year despite being their highest usage player. Also had a very nice assist rate.

It’s an offensively oriented league, but more than half the teams have top 100ish defenses. It’s hardly a joke. This kid can really play.

He was pretty much Option A B and C that I'm sure the Zags and BYU have at the top and bottom of the scouting reports and they have the size and athletes to neutralize 1 player. He won't be the only guy to have to game plan against here. If he has to sit a year he will get year 2 with Tate, Scooby, Harris, Coles experience not too mention a senior Golden down low.

I don't think it's impossible he could be All-Big East.

He just finished his sophomore season, sits out one, and then he'll have two years left with a lot of experience.

(Looks like he improved his 3 pt percentage from 31% to 40% in one season too--meaning maybe there's still considerable growth and improvement there).

Plus, the old guard of Howard, Powell, and Baldwin will be long gone.

He has to choose Butler first though, :)

Butler normally doesn’t stand a chance against that list... Butler also can offer someone no one else can in that list
