He told the team at a meeting tonight. Looks like we'll be looking for a new head coach in at least one sport this year.

I haven't followed the football program much. What happened? Safe to assume this was kinda forced bc of losing?

Yeah, they're billing this as a 'retirement' but dude is 54. Had a couple decent seasons but not in the last couple years. Feel like he's been at Butler for a while. Probably better for all.

I heard in a cost-saving move, LJ is going to channel Tony Hinkle and take over the football coaching duties in addition to basketball.

    Can't hurt, right?

Butler football would be about as good as they are now. Once the NCAA break apart or ends the stupid D1 rule, maybe Butler can join whatever lowest conference possible.

A lot of the issue (from people in the know) is the rise in tuition couple with less financial aid (stricter financial aid requirements) has limited recruiting ability. Ie they are pricing themselves out of recruits, pigeon holing them.

Lord knows had I not got full academic scholly I couldn’t have afforded butler.

Been awhile since I looked at Butler Cost of Attendance:

    Tuition: $42,410
    Housing and meals $14,850
    Fees: $990

    Total: $58,250/yr!!!!

Just 10 years ago it was $44,000

Meanwhile the average salary for a liberal arts graduate is $40,333. Sadly it doesn’t look like my kids will be able to go there without being a Rhodes scholar.

Actually, Butler has increased its financial aid in recent years to attract more applicants/acceptance & to offset any tuition increases, however meager. Regardless, costs are real.

I feel like that housing & meals estimate is low too. Kinda related, I remember years ago when it was reported that a single in apartment village had the highest apartment rent $ per sq foot in Marion County

Does Jordan Tucker have football eligibility? And when will he be eligible?
