Me. Digital. It’s important to support local journalism. BTW, it’s more than sports. Is it awesome? Nope. Still it matters.

I pay for it from Oct-March. Cost = $1. So yeah I’m supporting local journalism, but then again maybe not.

Maybe your one dollar isn’t covering anything it does add into advertising viewership numbers which is where most of their revenue comes.

Didn’t want to start a new thread, but this story is great reminder about how little we as fans know about these players as people and what their struggles may be. Kudos to Ty for his willingness to share his challenges with mental health:

Check out this article from IndyStar:

Butler's Ty Groce, once overwhelmed by depression, shines light on mental health issues

Thank you for posting this article. Somehow I missed it. Seems like virtually every kid on this team has has to deal with adversity. Depression is far worse than any injury. Heart goes out for Ty. Explains a lot.

Health Issues yet I have been critical of their performance from time to time

Christian David. Knee injuries since high school and continuing
Bo Hodges. Broken leg this year and torn calf muscle last year
Bryce Nze. Torn shoulder muscle and hand problem this year
Myles Tate. Knee injury last year and aggregated this year
Aaron Thompson. Foot surgery off season
    Bryce Golden Covid last year
Chuck Harris. Not divulged this year
Ty Groce. Depression and Bi Polar

Unfortunately, I believe this to be a fault on society. Pushing kids so hard so young - physically and mentally.

Forgot Jacobe Coles hurt his meniscus after only playing six games at Butler. Hardly plays at TCU.
Scooby Johnson tore up his knee at Butler
Jerald Gillens- Butler tore up his knee at Elon
Khalif Battle was doing very well at Temple but apparently is out. Hasn’t played at all after the first 7 games.
Markeese Hastings is the only one that hasn’t gotten hurt. Leading rebounder by far at Western Michigan but can’t shoot.

LaVall’s Twitter is about one thing and it isn’t basketball. He missed his calling as a preacher,

I don’t mean this to turn into a religious debate or anything. But at times I’ve wondered if his overt religiousness could be a turnoff to some recruits? Not everyone is so religious. Maybe not, but I could see it being a lot to someone who isn’t as devout.

So now we’re worried about coaching tweets? Jesus. Literally.

I'm sure out of the 600+ incoming freshmen hoops players any given year that you can find a few who are put off by it. I'm also sure that it's somewhere between a non-issue and a huge positive to an overwhelming majority of recruits.

Sure doesn't stop Dabo Swinney from reeling in a top 10 class every year in football.

Tony Bennett is another coach who speaks openly about his Christian faith and recently won a national championship at Virginia.
